Health Journalism (Dr. Nimeshika Jayachandran)
Dr. Nimeshika Jayachandran is a Doctor and Journalist with bylines in The Times of India and TheNewsMinute. Currently based in the United States of America, Dr. Nimeshika Jayachandran is passionate about spreading awareness and writing about mental health and socially ‘taboo’ medical conditions.
Right out of high school in the Bay Area, Dr. Nimeshika Jayachandran opted to enter directly into a six-year medical school program in India. After completing medical school, she had the opportunity to work in clinical practice as a junior resident physician in various clinical settings including orthopaedics, ER & trauma care, obstetrics & gynaecology, and neurology.
Her medical background has proved useful and valuable in her work as a medical journalist, says Dr Jayachandran. She has covered a number of health-centric issues, the most recent of which has been in-depth COVID-19 reporting. She is an alumnus of the National School of Journalism and Public Discourse and graduated as a valedictorian in 2018.
