Bengaluru: National School of Journalism and Public Discourse, Bangalore (NSoJ) is happy to announce that its student, Udbhavi Balakrishna (BA ‘22), has been selected to the 2021 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) Women’s Leadership Institute. This SUSI Institute is implemented by the Women’s Global Leadership Consortium (WGLC), a collaborative effort by the University of Delaware, Green River College, the University of Kansas, and Saint Mary’s College. SUSI programmes are funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Udbhavi was nominated by NSoJ for this prestigious exchange programme for her commitment to social issues in addition to her outstanding academic and extracurricular record at NSoJ.
“We are delighted in Udbhavi’s selection to the Women’s Leadership Institute, which will provide her with the exposure, relationships and resources to shape a meaningful academic and professional career. Udbhavi’s selection is also a recognition of the values of truth, compassion and justice that are ingrained within the NSoJ community,” said Timothy Franklyn, the founder of NSoJ.
"Udbhavi's exemplary performances in academic and extracurricular activities at NSoJ made her the natural choice for this prestigious fellowship. I am sure she would add value and vision to the program", Prof Simon Varghese, Principal, NSoJ said.
Udbhavi will join 87 other women from 23 different countries on an empowering, motivating, and educational women’s leadership journey. The 2021 SUSI Women’s Leadership Institute will include a virtual three-week programme in July 2021 as well as an in-person component in the United States of approximately two weeks in late fall 2021 or early spring 2022, contingent upon health, safety, and travel conditions.
