Bengaluru: Are you a college student studying in Bangalore? Then fests and events are very common across various institutions. Bangalore, often called the “Silicon Valley of India,” comes with a different kind of energy regarding fests. Across the city, students are seen swapping textbooks for stage lights, transforming campuses into vibrant spaces of music, dance, and high-spirited competitions. For many students, these fests are more than just a break from lectures, they are an opportunity to showcase their talents, bond with peers, and even bag big prizes for their creative efforts. The same spirit was keenly seen in one of the top journalism colleges here in Bangalore recently.

The National School of Journalism (NSoJ) hosted its mega event, ‘Slant 2024,’ on November 16th. This fest saw nine events listed in the brochure. Red Button was the star event of the day which had four panel discussions on various topics across different venues within the college. The other events were Reporting Live, Tweet This, Aim and Shoot, Poetry Slam, Psyche Quest, Case Conundrum, Octavia, and Kinetoscope. Each event, with its own unique set of rules, had the potential to create an unforgettable experience for the participants, according to some of them. The events were planned by the organizing team keeping in mind the competitiveness that would be the highlight of the event.

The organizing team was all dressed up in blue varsity jackets bringing in unity as well as contrasting it with the colour of the Law College of NSoJ. Despite all the challenges, the students of NSoJ pulled out a successful event. With lunch served at the canteen and a few food stalls going wild on sales, the event was an overall success. Bringing down curtains to the event was Mr. Timothy Franklin, the Founder and chairman of the college, addressing the crowd and wrapping it with a huge round of applause for the organizing team.

The excitement and creativity that shone through during ‘Slant 2024’ truly highlighted the incredible talent of the students at NSoJ. More than just a showcase, the event brought everyone together, building friendships and encouraging collaboration among classmates. As they celebrated their achievements and shared insightful moments, it became clear how important these fests are in shaping their college experience, helping them grow not only as individuals but also in their professional lives.
