Prajwal Revanna, the Hassan Janata Dal(Secular) Member of Parliament who fled India a month ago after being accused of serial sexual abuse, has produced a video statement claiming that he will appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31st, 2024. The video was aired by Asianet Suvarna News, a Kannada channel.

Revanna said, "I have faith in our justice system, and I am confident that all the allegations against me will be proved false in court." He added, "At 10 a.m. on Friday, May 31st, 2024, I will appear before the SIT and cooperate in every way possible."

Revanna further blamed Rahul Gandhi and other opposition figures of the INDIA alliance for politicising the issue, calling it a "political conspiracy." While his whereabouts are still unknown, Revanna apologized to his family, the public, and former chief minister Kumaraswamy, whom he referred to as "Kumar Anna," claiming that the politicised allegations had driven him into isolation and depression.

Additionally, he asserted that his overseas vacation had been planned in advance and that no SIT had been established or a case was filed against him when the polls were held on April 26th, 2024. "I learned about the allegations while I was overseas," he stated.

Revanna, who was last located in Germany, spoke out three days after JD(S) patriarch and his grandfather, HD Deve Gowda, issued a stern warning, demanding his return to India to surrender to the police. Last week, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the cancellation of Prajwal's diplomatic passport.

MLA HD Revanna, Prajwal's father, is also facing legal troubles, with two cases against him. One involves the molestation of a cook, who was also allegedly raped by Prajwal, and the other pertains to the kidnapping of a woman. He is currently out on bail.
