Why deprive the world of beautiful writing and stories? With this echoing in their minds, on June 1st 2020, the online storytelling magazine and social media consultancy launched their website - “Beyond the Panorama”. This website is co-founded by Vineet Sethi and Radhika Sethi.
Radhika and Nandini Sethi, the chief editor, introduce us to the world of ‘Beyond the Panorama’.
JOURNEY
About six years ago, whilst doing a degree in business, Radhika and her friend started a blog page named ‘Beyond The Panorama’ (BTP). She did so in order to pursue her love for english and writing. “We would write stories and blogs and publish it. A few authors approached us and we published their stories as well. This was just a personal hobby for me.” said Radhika Sethi.
Over the years, she realised that in the reading space now, there is a gap. At one end there are readers who read novels religiously and at the other end, there are people who do their reading on apps such as twitter, inshorts and so on. It dawned upon them that there are very few who do quick reading like spend 3 minutes to read a poem or a short story. In order to bridge this gap, she, along with her father and sister, decided to make BTP an online storytelling magazine.
With over 50 authors, this magazine focuses on poetry and fictional stories. They have made BTP, a platform where writers, who previously wrote in their secret diaries or shared their stories with a few people, have the opportunity to publish their works and make their voices heard. “What initially started off as a hobby, now has become a platform where you can spend three to five minutes reading a story or now spend hours and hours reading so many diverse stories.” said Radhika.
POSITIVE SPACE
“Creating a positive space is our main aim”, said Nandini Sethi while talking about what makes BTP unique and different. They strive to create a positive environment where people read and get inspired. What drives them most is that BTP is a non-news platform. They encourage their authors to stray away from the trending or viral news as the world is already being bombarded with information regarding the news. With a strict editorial process, BTP focuses on publishing stories with a message. “The story can be negative but should have a message. One can write about current affairs but we look for a new and fresh perspective, it isn't a reporting site.” they said.
SOCIAL MEDIA CONSULTANCY
Apart from being a storytelling magazine, BTP is also a boutique social media consultancy. They work with brands, helping them establish their social media presence and grow. “In today’s world, there are so many advertisements and brands. But what will always sell, is a story, because people love stories. Since we run this magazine, we know the power of storytelling. We consider ourselves experts at this and that is why we can help people narrate their stories through their social media presence and help them build a brand.” said Radhika
FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT
While aiming for BTP to become one of the leading publications, the team plan to broaden their horizon by publishing series of stories or novels with their authors. “There are a lot of things in the pipeline,” says a very excited Radhika.
